PRIDE Training
Hollyhawk Treatment Foster Care provides ongoing PRIDE (Parent Resources
for Information, Development and Education) training to all Foster Parents.
Basic Philosophies of PRIDE:
- All families need some support at some time-based on a Families Helping
Families model.
- Co-facilitator model-training is provided with a staff member and
Foster Parent.
- The needs of foster children have become more complex and perplexing.
Competencies required to foster equip foster parents with skills to
care for children not born to them, who are suffering the effects of
separation and loss and who may have special, if not extraordinary,
needs. The specific, documented learning objectives are related to treatment
foster care.
- Strengths of Foster Parents should be identified so they can be matched
with the needs of a specific child placed.
- No individual foster parent, social worker, agency or organization
has all the skills or resources to meet the complex needs of these children.
It takes a team of professionals, in a collaborative relationship, to
provide the treatment they require.
PRIDE is based on protecting and nurturing children, strengthening their
families and promoting permanency planning.
