In-Home Consultation and TrainingFoster Care Support Workers and the Foster Parents utilize behaviour modification and a cognitive behavioural approach in developing an individualized treatment plan for each child. Standardized Indicators of Success and Risk Assessment tools direct the goal creation and measure outcomes for each foster child/youth. Our consulting psychologist provides clinical consultation on a monthly basis with Foster Care Support Workers and Foster Parents for the purposes of clinical formulation, case consultation and treatment planning along with direct clinical training and support to foster parents and staff. Foster homes offer each foster child an individualized program with well-defined routines, structure and predictability. All foster children/youth are engaged in activities designed to assist in developing social skills and life skills. Foster Care Support Workers and the Foster Parents offer a therapeutic approach and encourage foster children/youth to be engaged in some form of formal treatment as required. Play therapy, Theraplay and other forms of group or individual counseling are made available or contracted in the area where the foster child/youth is residing. Foster Care Support Workers also facilitate life skills, social skills and conflict resolution training focused on the individual needs of the child/youth. The planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of goals for each
child is professionally supported by the direct involvement of the program’s
Director. This input and support may be enhanced through the use of psychiatrists
and psychologists when needed and contracted for. |
